Cost Effective Summerhouse with Maximum Natural Light

The Challenge

Our client wanted a practical and affordable summer house that provided a bright, inviting space while keeping costs manageable. The structure needed to be durable, weather-protected, and designed to allow as much natural light in as possible.

The Solution

We built a 5m x 2.5m summer house, designed to be cost-effective yet stylish and functional. By incorporating large windows and smart material choices, we created a bright, airy space that fits seamlessly into the client’s garden.

Key Features

Weather Protection - A roof overhang above the door provides shelter, keeping the entrance dry when the client unlocks and enters the summer house.

Cost-Effective Timber Doors with Full-Length Windows. To balance affordability with aesthetics, we installed timber doors but fitted them with full-length glass panels to let in plenty of natural light.

Additional Fixed Full-Length Windows. Two large fixed windows on either side of the door further enhance brightness, creating a light-filled, open feel inside.

Durable & Sturdy Construction. Built with 3x2 CLS framework, the structure is strong and built to last.

Traditional Felt Roof - A felt roofing system was used to provide a budget-friendly, weather-resistant solution for year-round protection.

The Result

The client now has a beautiful yet budget-conscious summer house, offering a bright and welcoming retreat in their garden. By maximizing natural light and incorporating practical design features, this project demonstrates how cost-effective solutions can still deliver an attractive and functional outdoor space.
