Custom-Built Workshop for a Home DIY Enthusiast

Our client needed a spacious, low-maintenance workshop in their garden for DIY and practical projects. The structure had to be durable, weather-resistant, and designed with functional features to enhance productivity. Additionally, the workshop needed to match the existing aesthetic of the client's home, including the choice of PVC finishes.

The Solution

We designed and built a 23ft wide by 9ft deep custom workshop, tailored to the client’s requirements. Every aspect of the build was planned for durability, practicality, and aesthetics

Key Features

Matching PVC Finish. The client wanted the workshop to blend seamlessly with their home, so we installed rosewood-coloured PVC windows and doors to complement the property’s existing design.

Low-Maintenance Roofing. An EPDM rubber roof was chosen over traditional felt, ensuring long-term durability with minimal maintenance. This high-performance roofing material provides excellent weather resistance and longevity.

Innovative Base Solution. Given the uneven ground, we used concrete posts for the foundation and built a 4x2 timber frame on top. This approach ensured that no timber was in direct contact with the ground, preventing moisture damage and increasing the lifespan of the structure.

Custom Window Placement for Functionality. The PVC windows were designed slightly shorter than standard height to allow the client to install a worktop beneath them inside the workshop. This thoughtful design enables the client to work comfortably while still enjoying natural light and a clear view of the garden.

The Result

The client now has a spacious, durable, and highly functional workshop, designed to meet both practical and aesthetic needs. With its low-maintenance materials, custom layout, and weather-resistant construction, the workshop provides a perfect space for DIY projects while enhancing the overall look of the property.

This project showcases how smart design choices and high-quality materials can transform an outdoor space into a practical, long-lasting solution for home workshops.
