Multi-Use Pent Unit with Storage, Gym & Pergola
The Challenge
Our client needed a compact but functional outdoor structure that combined secure storage and a personal gym space while also enhancing the garden’s aesthetics. The unit had to be built across two existing patios that were on slightly different levels, requiring a carefully designed base for stability and visual appeal.
The Solution
We constructed a 12ft deep by 8ft wide pent-style unit, split into two sections:
4ft-wide storage shed for garden tools, including a lawnmower.
gym area with a UPVC door, providing a dedicated space for workouts.
To seamlessly blend the unit into the outdoor space, we also built a pergola, attached to the structure, creating a covered seating area with outdoor lighting for relaxation.
Key Features
Stable, Custom-Built Base. Since the unit spanned across two patios at different levels, we created a 4x2 timber base, supported by custom-built legs to keep it perfectly level. The base was then skirted with decorative decking boards, concealing the framework and giving the structure a clean, polished look.
Low-Maintenance Roofing - An EPDM rubber roof was installed to ensure long-term durability, eliminating the need for felt maintenance.
Multi-Purpose Layout
Storage Shed - Secure and easily accessible space for storing garden tools.
Gym Area - A dedicated fitness space with a UPVC entrance, allowing the client to work out in a private, well-ventilated environment.
Attached Pergola. This covered seating area extends from the unit, providing a sheltered space where the client has installed outdoor lighting and seating, making it a perfect spot for relaxation.
The Result
The client now has a highly functional and visually appealing outdoor space that serves multiple purposes. The combination of secure storage, a private gym, and a relaxing pergola area makes this project a fantastic example of smart, space-efficient design that enhances both usability and aesthetics.
This build showcases how customized solutions can overcome site challenges, turning an uneven foundation into a seamless, well-integrated garden feature.
