Pent Bi-Fold Summerhouse
Our client, an avid gardener and artist with two young children, wanted a multi-purpose summer house that would seamlessly connect their large garden with an indoor play and creative space. The structure needed to feel open and airy, allowing for plenty of natural light and fresh air, while also accommodating a dedicated art workspace. Additionally, the ground was uneven, requiring a stable and level base for long-term durability.
Light-Filled Pent Summer House for Family & Creativity
The Solution
We designed and built a 6m x 3m pent summer house, focusing on maximizing natural light and creating a functional, family-friendly space.
Key Features
Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Connection: Large bifold doors allow the summer house to fully open up, creating a smooth transition between the garden and indoor space. This provides plenty of fresh air and makes the room feel like an extension of the outdoor space.
Maximized Natural Light.
Full-length glass panels inside the bifold doors ensure that even when closed, the space remains bright.
Additional full-length windows beside the doors further enhance the light and airy feel.
Built-In Art Workspace. A custom-built bench runs along the full width of one wall, providing a dedicated space for painting and creative projects - perfect for both the client and their children to enjoy together.
Sturdy, Level Base. The area was uneven, so we installed a 4x2 timber base frame, supported by concrete posts to ensure the structure was completely level and stable.
The Result
The client now has a bright, inviting summer house that serves as a garden retreat, playroom, and creative studio all in one. The bifold doors and full-length windows create a stunning open-plan feel, while the custom art bench ensures it’s a space the entire family can use and enjoy.
